Hey y’all!

What a gorgeous day it is down here in cajun country… The skies are clear and the air is fresh and crip. I am so excited about the coming of the holidays, and I am still in the mood for giving thanks. Yesterday I shared two fo the many things (or people) for which I am grateful, and today I thought I’d share another… Today I am grateful for YOU.

Each of you who pop in, regularly or not, to share your kind words, or quietly read along with my ramblings, I appreciate you all. I get such satisfaction out of what I do, and to be able to share it with others who are just as head over heels with this hobby as I am is just a huge blessing! The lessons we’ve learned together, the journey we all take, I am so glad that I began this blog almost two years ago to be able to document it all.

To show my thanks, I thought now would be a great time to host a little giveaway… Check out the deets below!

*Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz* – Happy Thanksgiving

Hey y’all!

I’m here for this month’s Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz… and I am so excited about it! although I am still a bit attached to the colors of Spring and Summer, I am SO ready for the weather and fun holidays of the fall. For the blog waltz, everyone was to create something with an Autumn/Harvest theme… and I hope you can gather that from my card. I felt like throwing in something unexpected, so I added a blue tone to the mix. It reminds me of looking up to see all of the pretty fall leaves in the trees up against the backdrop of a cool blue sky… *sigh*… now, those are happy fall days.

Well, thanks so much for “waltzing” by to see me today!

ETA: Sorry for posting this so late y’all! I completely fell asleep while blogging last night, and didn’t wake up until after 12noon today! I guess I needed some rest, lol! (Kids were at Grammy & Opa’s house, so don’t worry…they weren’t neglected, lol!)

*Embellish Color Challenge*

Posted by on Dec 10, 2009 in Christmas, Embellish Magazine, Fall/Autumn, Papertrey Ink, Perfectly Pretty | 10 comments

Hi again! :-)

**This is today’s second post… Please scroll down for some more fun!**

I don’t usually squeeze in multiple posts in one day, but I couldn’t let the day go by without reminding you about the latest Embellish Color Challenge! Aren’t those colors so lush and pretty?!

You still have plenty of time to play along! The challenge ends tonight, December 10, 2009 at 11:59 PM EST. That’s a solid 12 hours left! ;-)

Here are some cards I made using the inspiration above…

I wanted to push myself and make a Christmas card, even though the colors were screaming fall… I had a fun time using these wonderful images from the Perfectly Pretty shop. They’re so warm and cheerful! I used Turning a New Leaf (PTI) and did some tone-on-tone background stamping.

Moving back into the fall theme, but sticking with the background stamping, I came up with this…

This card features one of my favorite sets by Clear and Simple Stamps, Fall Studio.  I love it! This was a super quick card to make, but I think it has enough pizzazz to really make a statement the recipient.

So what do ya say? Are you gonna give it a whirl? I think you should! ;-)

When you are ready to submit, add your link to the Embellish Color Challenge post, then upload your card to the Embellish Flickr Gallery. Don’t forget, the challenge ends tonight, December 10, 2009 at 11:59 PM EST.

*Hugs & Love!*

The DEETS: Card 1: Card Stock (Papertrey Ink: Dark Chocolate ,Vintage Cream & Terracotta Tile) | Focal Image Card (Perfectly Pretty) | Stamps (Papertrey Ink: Turning a New Leaf) | Ink (Colorbox: Dark Chocolate) | Ribbon (Perfectly Pretty: Cream Crochet Ribbon &  Green Velvet Corduroy Ribbon) | Buttons (Papertrey Ink: Terracotta Tile). Card 2: Card Stock (Papertrey Ink: Ripe Avocado & Vintage Cream) | Stamps (CSS: Fall Studio) | Ink (Colorbox: Dark Chocolate, VersaMagic: green, Papertrey Ink: Terracotta Tile) | Ribbon (Papertrey Ink: Terracotta Tile Twill) | Button (Making Memories) | Twine (Perfectly Pretty: Cream Burlap String) | Pearls (Recollections)

The HOW TO: Card 1: Trim brown card stock to A2 sized card and distress edges. Stamp background pattern using dark brown ink. Trim focal image and mat onto cream and then rust card stock. Distress edges of bottom layer of mat. Add lace and ribbon trim to card, then adhere focal image on top. Flank focal image with buttons and twine. Card 2: Trim green card stock to A2 sized card. Stamp background pattern onto card base using brown and green inks. Tie bow using rust ribbon, then add button, twine and pearl. Stamp sentiment on strip of cream card stock, distress edges, then adhere to card below ribbon. Accent leaf centers on card base with small pearls.

2 Sketches 4 You – Kazan's Sketch 39

Posted by on Nov 9, 2009 in 2S4y, Cards, Fall/Autumn | 13 comments

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Ours was busy with the baby’s birthday on Saturday, but it definitely wasn’t lacking in the fun department. :-) Thanks again for all of your well wishes and sweet words on this post, too. Sydney and I sat together and read each comment, and you should have seen her wide smile. :-)

Today’s card is based on this week’s sketch by Kazan over at 2 Sketches 4 You. Fun sketch, isn’t it? I still have tons of ideas flying through my head for this one. Love it so much. Our sponsor for this week is DRS Designs. I used the Harvest Postage Frame and some images from Fall Leaf Background, both of which can be found in the DRS Designs online catalog.

I really love the rustic feel of these images. They’re so versatile… And let me tell ya, I was this close to creating a Christmas themed project with these stamps, but I decided against it at the last minute. Maybe I’ll finish that card up and share it with you later, or soon. ;-)

Well thanks for stopping by! If I could, I’d fix you a nice hot cup of coffe or tea to start your week off right! :-) Do what you need to do to wake up, then come play along with us over at 2S4Y!

*Hugs & Love!*
