If you’re a regular around here, you know how much I love me some doilies! They are perfect for adding a little lagniappe to your paper projects. But the are also great as the focal point of your creations…
And that’s exactly why I was so excited to see that this month’s theme of the Waltzingmouse Blog Party is DOILIES!
WMS has some doily-themed stamp sets that I immediately reached for to get inspiration for this challenge. After some thought, I decided use the half doily image (stamped twice to make a whole) from Dainty Doilies 2 - Small as the focal point of my card.
I stamped and heat embossed the image, and once it cooled down, I die cut my doily out using the coordinating Spellbinders die from Big Scalloped Circles – Large.
I love the detail in Claire’s doily stamps. There’s so much opportunity to color them, or just leave them plain like I did here.
I layered a gorgeous butterfly from the Gilded Bee on top of my doily, and added some curled slivers of vellum to the butterfly for some fun whimsy.
Then I used a scrap of a paper doily to flank the bottom of my heat embossed sentiment. I stamped “Easter Greetings” from the Spring Baskets set onto a strip of vellum, and heat embossed it in white to match the doily.
A simple card that allows the gorgeous embossed doily to steal the show. There are tons more doily stamps in Dainty Doilies – Large, so I encourage you to check that out when you get a chance.
