Wow… last week seems to have gone by in a blur! I have barely been able to come up for air, so I wasn’t able to share this until now…
I am low on sleep, but I’m not complaining because this weekend I was able to hit the road and have some fun with hubby… We attended our first ever Mardi Gras ball! The super Krewe of Endimion had their parade on Saturday, and at the end of the parade there was a big ball, where the Krewe and their guests partied into the night together…

It was gobs of fun.

And it’s always nice to see hubs in his tux. ;)

I’m also excited to have had a reason to get all dressed up myself…

And Kelly Clarkson was the headliner!

What a blast!

But let me shift gears a bit and get on to the crafty stuff… Wplus9 is sponsoring the monthly challenge over on the CARDS blog, and there is a fun sketch for you to follow if you’d like to join…

The sketch screams for the Scalloped Border die to be used. So I cut all four sides of my card stock with it, and then stamped a playful background using stamps from Bitty Buddy Valentines and Very Vintage Florals. I sprayed over my stamping using some white chalk mist to tone down the contrast just a bit.

I know this is a pretty busy card with all the different patterns I used, but sometimes it’s fun to layer like that. For me it is, at least, lol…

I die cut that denim pocket using the A Pocketful die and some patterned paper from the Random collection by Crate Paper. I sponged some Pure Color White ink over it to give it a slight white-washed effect. Then I distressed the edges with my scissors after stitching around the border.

image

On top of the pocket I use the Clear Cut Stackers: Hearts dies, and the Banner Trio die. The sentiment comes from the Bitty Buddy Valentines set. The tiny stitches heart that’s stamped inside the smaller die cut heart comes from Banner Love.

After that, I just topped it off with a twine bow, and we’re done!

I’ve already seen some folks playing along with this challenge… It’s always fun to see all of the different interpretations of a sketch, so join us!

Link up your creation in the comments over at the CARDS blog here. You have until February 18th to join us!

Ok beautiful people, that’s a wrap!

Enjoy your Mardi Gras week, and “laissez le bon temps roullet!”

Xoxo,

  2. You look fabulous! No one would suspect you had a baby some months ago. I love how his bow tie matches your dress. What a handsome couple. So glad you had a great date night. What a cute card with the jean pocket. I just can’t get into the crafting mood! I’ve had to rearrange a lot of things in my craft studio for some play area for my grand baby and I’m still putting things away. LOL I did make some of the gardner’s scrub as per your directions and bought some other cutsie things to give my girls for Vday. Can’t thank you enough for that fun project. xo
