Every now and then you pick up a new stamp set and let out an audible burst of excitement…

And that’s exactly what happened to me when I held this set in my hands for the first time. I am so thrilled at what Dawn came up with this month… all of it is just so well designed. But I do believe that these stamps are my favorite, and I had no problems coming up with things to create with them.

Before I show you more, let me remind you that we are quickly approaching the big release day at Wplus9! Release day is in 2 days, and we’re almost done sharing all of the gorgeous new goods that will be up for sale. Today, we’re all sharing:

- Written On Ribbon, &
- Written On Ribbon Companion Die

This stamp set is full of possibilities! I’m. In. Love. with the big ol’ banner in this set! And the coordinating die is just the pièce de résistance!

On this particular card, I mounted the Written On Ribbon Companion Die cut piece over a die cut Label Layers 3 panel. Behind this panel, I stamped a spray of flowers from Embroidered Bouquet. Don’t you just adore the sentiments in Written On Ribbon? They are such a perfect compliment to the design of the ribbon label.

I used the Label Layers 3 die again here to cut out a label sticker that I created using Very Vintage Florals and Embroidered Bouquet. I stamped and heat embossed my images onto computer paper, sprayed the back with some spray adhesive, and then adhered it to my little jar here. I love how I was able to customize this gift set with these stamps… it was so easy!

This project is a little something that I created for my sister-friend for her birthday… And the idea, of course, came from Pinterest! (original source) I saw it and knew it would be the perfect pampering gift for my friend… She loves to be pampered, and deserves to be as well. So with just TWO ingredients, I made my friend a pretty little jar of hand scrub.

Here’s how I made it:

Sarah Martina - Homemade Hand Scrub 1a

You only need two ingredients! I am telling you, this alone was the selling point for me, lol! Talk about quick and easy! Grab some white sugar, and some Dawn liquid dish soap… yes, the Oil of Olay kind! It’s got extra moisturizing agents in it, and it smells delicious! It’s a “splurge” when it comes to other types of dish soap, but you won’t use very much, and when you think of how much hand scrub you can make with it, the cost is more than worth the reward! And of course you’ll need a jar with a lid to hold your hand scrub in… It will most likely be left out on display, so pick something cute. ;) I found this little jar at a local thrift shop (score!).

Pay close attention now… because this part gets tricky…

Ok, not really, lol, but still… This is actually a “recipe” that you really have to play by ear. I started out by following the original instructions to fill my container about 3/4 full with sugar, but in the end that wasn’t nearly enough. So just roll with me for a second.

Fill your container with sugar to about 3/4 full. Then, add your Dawn until you’ve filled your jar almost completely. You’ll be stirring it next, so leave some room for that.

Yep, you guessed it… Next, you stir.

And stir… and stir some more.

I’ll emphasize that you’re going to have to pay attention to the consistency of your mix! Once you have completely combined your ingredients, take a look at how thick or thin the consistency is. You want it to be a fairly thick mixture, meaning not too runny. So this is where I ended up adding at least another 1/4 cup of sugar. I just added it in about 2-3 tablespoons at a time, mixed, and then reassessed the consistency. You want it thicker than a smoothie, but not quite as thick as sour cream… so think yogurt-ish. Lol… I must be hungry.

And that’s that!

Does it get any easier?!

And YES, it works wonderfully! Your hands are sooo soft and smooth once you’ve used it. And no, you’d never guess (well I didn’t, lol) that you used sugar and dish soap to make it! It seriously feels like any top of the line hand scrub I’ve ever used. Big thanks to Jillee for sharing this awesome idea with the blogosphere!

And of course, all the kudos in the world go to Dawn for blessing us with another absolutely BRILLIANT release of product! I have had so much fun… soooo much fun creating with these. And my friend was  tickled pink by her gift! She literally made the lady sitting next to us in the coffee shop sniff her new hand scrub, lol! She’s a nut. But I love her.

  1. Thanks for sharing. Gonna do the hand scrub and buy the ribbon stamps and die.

  2. Oh my goodness, this couldn’t have come at a better time. I love that it’s 2 ingredients! I think this would be a fun gift for my girls (daughter and daughter in law). I love to do little treats for them for each holiday throughout the year. I have some MS heart shaped cookie cutters and this would be a sweet addition. I made them some beautiful Valentine banners last year, but they were so good, I don’t think I can top them. HaHa, I usually don’t have that problem. Thanks for sharing this great idea.

  3. Oooh, I love that colour combo. Such a wonderful gift set!

  5. Sarah, what did you use to get the cheesecloth bkgrnd texture on this card? I really love the whole card and would love to make one for my friend.

  8. I’m always on the lookout for quick and easy handmade gifts for friends and family. This is such a great idea! But what makes it even more special is the way you’ve decorated it so beautifully. The silver embossing is gorgeous!

  9. Thanks for sharing the hand scrub idea. Love your projects! The pink and silver with the cream is just lovely.

  10. Your card is stunning, Sarah! Just stunning. I love the spray of flowers behind the label, and you are just rockin’ the metallics. So inspiring!
