*MCS Monday!* Hooray You Are 6!

Hey y’all!

MCS Monday 8-31

Happy MCS Monday to ya! This week I’m using the super duper cute Birthday Numbers set. My daughter, Sydney, is turning 6 in September, so this is definitely going into my stash of possible cards for her. I usually make more than 1 (is that weird?!).

I used some adorable new papers from the My Little Shoebox Sky’s the Limit line here. I think they work together so nicely with the MCS stamps for a little girl’s card. What do ya think? Well, I have a lot of catching up to do this week, resulting from a fairly unproductive weekend (what a waste!). Ugh. Thanks for bearing with me you guys! Love y’all so much!

Happy Birthday Laura! *2S4Y 33*

Hey folks!

BG Birthday 8-28-09

I hope you are all doing well. Happy Friday to ya!

Well, although I’m a day late, I still wanted to take a moment to wish Laura, from 2 Sketches 4 You, a Happy Birthday! This lady is such an inspiration! And one of the biggest sweet hearts you’ll ever come in contact with in this crafty community. Please leave Laura some love on her blog, here.  Laura, I hope your birth-day, week, month and year are full of joy & laughs!

This also happens to be Laura’s week for a sketch:

Laura's Sketch 33

I followed the sketch pretty well, other than the fact that I turned it on its side for a little change. ;-) The butterfly is a messed up version of stamped image that I covered with glossy accents… I refused to throw away, and now I’m glad that I kept it. :-) It was in bad shape as far at the smoothness goes (I touched it before it was dry), but that worked fine for this card. I inked over it with some distress ink, and it really blends with the patterned paper well.

Well, this card is full of slap-you-in-the-face pattern! Lol! I used the Basic Grey June Bug line here. The butterfly stamped image is from the same line as the die cut butterfly here.

Ok, I hope your weekend is full of awesomeness!

See ya next week!

*Hugs & Love*

*Butterfly* Birthday

Hey y’all!

Butterfly Birthday

How are y’all doing??? It’s almost Friday! Wooo hoo! I’m so ready for this weekend to get here… that makes us one step closer to the Labor Day holiday weekend. I {heart} long weekends. :-)

Ok, well this is a super simple card I made for one of my co-workers. I didn’t have much time to do any shopping, so I picked up a gift card to Chili’s (a place she loves), and stuck it in this card. I don’t like to go very over the top when I’m making cards for people because, well, let’s be realistic… not everyone likes a half pound card that barely fits into the envelope because of the flowers and glitter and ribbon and layers, etc.  Lol… She’s also a bit more mature in age, so I wanted to tone it down juuuust a bit. :-)

Butterfly Birthday a

Edited to add: Did I mention how UNbelievably difficult it was for me NOT to put any ribbon somewhere ANYwhere on the card??? Just thought I’d point that out. Lol!

Can you see the embossed texture on the pink strip? That’s some American Crafts shimmery card stock (not sure what the official name is right now), and I LOVE it! Fun stuff, huh?

Ok folks! Am I the only one who feels like there is way too much to do and not nearly enough time to do it in???? Eeek!

Well speaking of… (I feel a ramble coming on…lol!)… Let me just say THANK YOU to everyone who left me sweet comments over the last few days.  You ladies blow. me. away! And I am still getting feedback regarding my glittery situation, too! I have read ALL of your comments, and it never fails, each and every time I read one, I get this big smile on my face (my DH thinks I’m so goofy!). I really wish I could respond to you all – I tried, but just couldn’t get to all of you. Believe me I hear you and I am so, so grateful! Y’all are the BEST!!!

Ok… enough sappiness! :-)   Y’all have a FABULOUS THURSDAY!!!

Hey y’all!

out-for-publication22

How’s it going? All is well in my corner of the earth… After all, a little sleep deprovation never hurt anybody, right? :-)

Well this card is made with My Mind’s Eye papers, the AndreaVictoria line to be more specific. I know this is a fairly outdated line of product, but I have been seeing it around and I just could not get it off of my mind. Lol… So FINALLY I broke it out and played around with it a bit. I LOOOOVE these papers!!! Why not pair it with my current staple item – my ribbon!  (pun intended…lol!)

out-for-publication22

This has got to be one of the fastest cards I have ever made in my life. I mean SUPER quick. The slowest part was the ribbon stapling, and that didn’t even take 5 minutes. Pop dots & pearls, and voila!

Follow-Up!:

I won’t keep you long today, but before I go I want to first thank you so much for your feedback on my glittery situation…lol! I thought about adding glossy accents to it, but then it would be a slick surface, not really what I want. I want the glitter’s texture to remain. I didn’t mention it, but I used a glue pad to adhere my glitter on the leaves. I need to try using the red tape, and I also like the idea of spraying something (hairspray or whatever…) over the glitter to help it “hold.” This way their is only a thin coat of product over the glitter as opposed to something more thick like the glossy accents.

Ok, well, it’s time for a new day! Only 2 more left until Friday! Yipppeeee!!!

*Hugs & Love*

*PTI Blog Hop* Autumn

Hey y’all!

bloghoplogo

Thanks for joining me in this month’s Papertrey Ink Blog Hop! This month’s theme is Autumn. As you can see, I took a minimalist approach to the idea. I used a very neutral base so as to keep the attention and focus on the texture  and sentiment on my card.

PTI Blog Hop - August

When I finished my card I thought to myself… hmmmm… Papertrey Ink meets Martha Stewart! Lol… I used the following PTI products:

  • Vintage Cream, Summer Sunrise, and Pure Poppy card stock
  • 2nd Anniversary Stamp Set, and
  • Pure Poppy Ink.

You can find the rest of my products at the end of my post.

PTI Blog Hop - August a

Don’t these happy colors just remind you of cool breezes and warm cups of tea? I love seeing the weather changing to Autumn. I love the cool months, and if you haven’t heard before… I LOOOOVE Football! :-) Both of those things are reasons that I am so grateful for Autumn.

Ok… I know I didn’t take the time to wipe away each of the little glitter flurries before snapping this shot, but believe me, it was late. Lol! But while we’re on the subject,

I have a question for you:

How in the world do you “set” your glitter so that it stays in place in situations like what you see above? How do you keep the “look” of it, but also prevent major rubbage-offage? (No, that’s not a real word, but you knew exactly what I was trying to say…LOL!) Please help! With the holidays quickly approaching, I know I will be using MUCH more of this shiney stuff! There has to be a way to keep the sparkly look, without losing complete functionality of the card. Thanks for your feedback! :)

Ok, well make sure to check out the PTI Blog Hop Forum for some fun chatting and lots of amazing links!
