*Babies* Galore!

Posted by on Jun 30, 2009 in Baby, Cards | 6 comments

Hey y’all!

I have a couple of baby cards to share with ya… The first is for a sweet friend of mine who is set to deliver any day now! Yeee! I have a few other things in store for her, but I can only share this for now.

The second card is for my neighbor. I made a card for them before (here), but wasn’t quite satisfied with it…. I know, I know… but I really liked the gingham, and wanted to do more with it. I am making the new Mommy a coordinating journal also. This is their first child, and I thought a journal would help preserve all of Mommy’s feelings, thoughts, and experiences as she waits for their new baby to arrive.

Anyhow – enjoy!

Finding the *Sunshine*

Posted by on Jun 29, 2009 in Cards, Sympathy | 4 comments

Hey folks~

I thought I’d share a couple of cards I made for some friends of a friend. I feel like I’ve been having to make so many of these lately – not fun at all. It just seems like over the last couple of weeks the loss of life is happening all around, close to home, and not so close to home. If you’re not careful, you’ll be affected by it in a way that is just not healthy. So, I’m choosing to find the sunshine in it all… By praising God for those who I know are now with Him, and by enjoying each & every moment that I am blessed to have with my family.

I’m also glad that I have the hobby/passion that I do. Not only because it gives me a chance to express myself, but also because of how it allows me to reach out and touch others. I have always treasured the joy a person exudes when he/she receives a simple handmade card or gift… so for the ability to share that, I am grateful.

Scribble This! *Sharp as a Tack!*

Hey there y’all!

I picked up some Bo Bunny goodies from my LSS, and I just had to put a quick card together! You can see the entire lines here. Yum! I can’t wait to use the rest of my stuff… It’s going to be perfect for some summer layouts of the kids.

I thought this would also be a great opportunity to join in on Lisa’s latest Scribble This! challenge. You can check out her tutorial on sharpening your images here.

Fun, yes? Here’s my card, before and after.

Hello Butterfly - Without Sharpening

Hello Butterfly - With Sharpening

There is a slight difference that I noticed particularly in the grain of the ribbon and paper punched butterflies. Just enough to make it a bit more realistic and pleasing to the eye.

And how about those colors? Aren’t they great?! I only grabbed a yard of that ribbon, but I just love it so much I may have to go get more. I can’t get over that color!

Have a good weekend y’all! I’m off to get some studying in while the kids nap! :-)

Supplies: Bo Bunny Papers – Bubble Gum Popsicle Collection, Clover & Buttercup Double Dot Paper| Bazzill CS (orange) | ribbon| American Crafts Taffy Vera Vinyl Thickers| Martha Stewart Butterfly punch | Heidi Swapp bling | EKSuccess Corner Rounder.

*Invaluable* Advice

Posted by on Jun 27, 2009 in Encouragement, Left Field | 3 comments

Hey folks!

I just wanted to share this video – it’s Kristina Werner’s Make A Card Monday video from this week. The card is cute (obviously!), but the real reason I’m sharing this is because of what Kristina discusses during the video (beginning at the 9:35 mark).

So, she basically talks about how important it is, as a fan of this hobby, to really keep sight of what makes you happy when crafting. So often we find ourselves consumed with the hundreds and thousands of other crafters out there, that we forget how to express our own talents. Have fun and stay authentic, just as Kristina said….

This is a lesson we I need to really cling to. Am I the only one who at times becomes “caught up” in what everyone else is doing, but can’t figure out what I like to do? I know what I like to look at, and drool over, and oooh and ahhh about… but when I sit down in front of a bare craft table, how will I put on paper that which is “me”?

Anyway, I am so glad that she shared that bit of advice with everyone (the gobs of us who watch her videos), and kept our tails in check. :-) I have much respect for Kristina for that!

Ok… all done… back to your regularly scheduled programming… :-)
